Lithium batteries for solar

A lithium battery stores the solar your panels make during the day so the house can use it after dark or during load shedding. Capacity is voltage times amp-hours: a 25.6V 100Ah unit holds 2.56 kWh and a 51.2V 100Ah unit holds 5.12 kWh, and nearly all of that is usable, unlike a tubular battery where taking more than about half the rated capacity shortens its life sharply. A good lithium battery lasts eight to ten years in normal domestic use.

Everything listed is supplied and fitted by our own engineers. We price a system from your actual load rather than publishing rates that move with the exchange rate — ask us and your quotation comes back itemised line by line, at no charge.

Lithium against tubular

A tubular battery is cheaper to buy and more expensive to own. You can safely use only about half its rated capacity, it needs topping up with water, it wants ventilation, and it is generally finished in three to four years. Replacing it twice costs more than buying lithium once.

Lithium gives you nearly all of its rated capacity, needs no maintenance, takes charge faster, and degrades gradually rather than dying. It is also far lighter and can be wall-mounted. For a solar installation that is expected to last twenty-five years, it is the sounder purchase, which is why we fit it.

Sizing a bank

Work from what you want to run overnight. Add the watts of each appliance, multiply by the hours you need it, and that is your kilowatt-hours. Lights and fans through a night is a small figure; an air conditioner is not.

Then check the inverter can deliver the peak. A battery with plenty of energy is no use if the inverter cannot supply the surge when a motor starts.

Inverter capacity decides the voltage. Up to about 4.2kW we fit 25.6V units; above that, 51.2V. Units in one bank must match in voltage, capacity and brand — a mismatched bank performs like its weakest member and fails early.

What we stock

Solax, Itell and Ziewnic Li-Wall, in 25.6V and 51.2V, 100Ah, listed below with the energy each one holds. All are supplied with installation, the protection equipment they need, and warranty handled through us rather than by you dealing with the manufacturer.

Questions we are asked

How much does a lithium battery cost in Peshawar?

It depends on the voltage and the brand, and on how many units your load actually needs. We price it from a load calculation rather than publishing a figure that would be wrong for most houses. Send us your load and the quotation comes back itemised, with no obligation.

How long does a lithium solar battery last?

Eight to ten years in normal domestic use. Lithium batteries are rated in charge cycles rather than years, and they lose capacity gradually, so the system keeps working with less runtime rather than stopping.

Is a lithium battery better than a tubular battery?

For solar, yes, on every measure except the purchase price. You can use nearly all of a lithium battery's rated capacity against about half of a tubular battery's, it needs no watering or ventilation, and it lasts two to three times as long. A tubular battery replaced twice costs more than one lithium battery.

How many batteries do I need?

Work out the kilowatt-hours you want to carry overnight and divide by the capacity of one unit — 2.56 kWh for a 25.6V 100Ah, 5.12 kWh for a 51.2V 100Ah. We do this properly at the survey from your real load rather than selling you a round number.

Can I mix battery brands in one bank?

No. Units in a bank must match in brand, voltage and capacity. A mismatched bank is governed by its weakest unit and will fail early, so we will not install one.

Tell us your load and we will size it properly

Our load calculator works from the appliances you actually own, and a sales engineer prepares the quotation from it. There is no charge and no obligation.
