Solar inverters
The inverter turns the direct current from your panels into the alternating current your house uses, and decides moment by moment whether to draw from the sun, the battery or the grid. It is the part that does the thinking and the part that usually fails first, so it is worth more attention than the panels. A daytime inverter cannot charge a battery; a hybrid one can, which is the whole difference between the two kinds of system.
Inverters we fit
Ask us about inverters we fit.
Everything listed is supplied and fitted by our own engineers. We price a system from your actual load rather than publishing rates that move with the exchange rate — ask us and your quotation comes back itemised line by line, at no charge.
Sizing an inverter
Size it to the load you run at the same time, not to your monthly units. Add the watts of everything likely to be on at once, then allow headroom for motors — a fridge, a pump or an air conditioner draws several times its running figure for a moment at startup, and an inverter that cannot supply that surge will trip.
A 5kVA unit suits a typical house with fans, lights, a fridge and one air conditioner. A larger house, or a shop with refrigeration, wants 7kVA or 8kW. Our load calculator does this arithmetic from the appliances you actually own.
Oversizing wastes money and undersizing trips the system. Neither is fixed by guessing, which is why we ask for a room-by-room list before quoting.
Hybrid and daytime
Hybrid inverters — Ziewnic Axpert Twin and Lenox in our range — manage solar, battery and grid together, and can hold back a reserve for outages. They cost more and are the only option if you want power after dark.
Daytime inverters are simpler and cheaper, and run the load straight from the array while the sun is up. Ours are built to our own specification in 5kVA and 7kVA, with an 8kW SunSaviour unit above that.
Repairs
We repair inverters at board level, on all the major brands, not only the ones we sold. Troubleshooting, component-level repair, firmware updates and preventive maintenance, with genuine parts so the repair lasts. Bring the unit in or ask us to collect it.
Questions we are asked
What size inverter do I need for my house?
Size it to the load running at the same time, with headroom for motor startup. A typical house with fans, lights, a fridge and one air conditioner is served by 5kVA; a larger house or a shop with refrigeration wants 7kVA or 8kW. Our load calculator works it out from your actual appliances.
What is the difference between a hybrid and a daytime inverter?
A hybrid inverter can charge and discharge a battery and switch between solar, battery and grid. A daytime inverter cannot: it runs your load from the panels while the sun is up and shuts down otherwise. You cannot add a battery to a daytime inverter later without replacing it.
Do you repair inverters you did not sell?
Yes. We do board-level repairs on all the major brands, with genuine parts.
What warranty do inverters carry?
Five years on the inverters we supply, handled through us. We deal with the manufacturer on your behalf rather than sending you to them.
